Switch to Scintilla.
« Thread started on: Mar 20th, 2007, 5:51pm » |

Hey I would like to share my opinion. For the new IDE I was thinking of switching to the Scintilla DLL. Although I love CodeAChrome and it's ease of use, I have heard many great things about Scintilla, and I believe that it is a little more professional. But on the side of CodeAChrome, I believe it will show that this project is more community based. But let me here your opinions.

You should but I wouldnt swich all like that because you will have to learn what todo and how to use the dll command. if you don use it right, it can crach the editor and maybe the whole computer.

Copycat, lol. I am thinking of making a dll in pascal for color text, but theirs one problem. If i do, it will be people who will not include credit in for me. Then I did all of that for nothing then. I am thinking of doing what Alyce did, and put a link with a text saying "Dll created by : Starr" or something like that.

I think it would be a good idea because i've notice that the CodeAChrome system doesn't work on my Windows Vista OS for some weird reason. So Scintilla would probably be a good idea for those who don't have support for CodeAChrome type objects.
Just putting my 2 cents in...

You should use scintilla. CodeAChrome is more for doing because you can or community only products. Nothing commercial or profressional. And since you want this to be a tool used by others you would probably want it to look professional.

The actual editor appears but the colored words don't appear when a keyword is entered into the editor.

I think a syntax colouring DLL would be cool. But maybe put your name somewhere else. Like if someone uses the DLL are they actually using the program or is the DLL more of an advertisment?

Syntax colouring would be good, would reduce errors if people were getting syntax correct.

You got it somewhat backwards but you are correct. It help to find out the coding and commands when using syntax color.
